European Wine Bloggers Conference

Only two days left for my first EWB Conference and this time it's held in heart of Franciacorta in Brescia, Italy. I will be experience 9 days of pure fun and wine, including some tasty foods on the side.
Francia what?
Franciacorta is located in the provence of Brescia in Lombardy north of Italy where they make sparkling wine by using the traditional method called DOCG Franciacorta. Other wines made from the area are labeled as DOC Terre di Franciacorta. Main grape varities used in making the bubbly are Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris.
It was only from 1995 where the DOC regulations were updated and DOCG was solely used for Franciacorta sparkling wine and DOC Terre di Franciacort reserved for still wines. Main varieties for the still wines are:
Bianco:
Chardonnay / Pinot Bianco
Rosso:
Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon.
Franciacorta still seems to be developing area where I think we will see a lot of new stuff popping up to the scene for example some winemakers concentrating on making biodynamic or organic sparkling wine. I eager to learn more as I have enjoyed quite a few great Franciacortas in the past and only scratched the surface. EWBC will be a great place to taste more and learn more.
The 9 Days
The week will start with a Bring Your Own Bottle dinner in Brescia and wine enthusiasts from all over the world are bringin their own wines to the tasting. Currently the list holds over 60 wines from 15 different ares around the world (I can sence a headache on the 14th). If you are interested below is the full list of wines which we will have the fortune to taste.
Week will continue with full on conference days from 14th to 16th, meeting fellow bloggers and wine lovers, taste some bubbly from Franciacorta of course not forgetting their still red and white and other wines around Italy and with a added bonus of Sunday trip to Alto Adige. After the conference we will head out for a 3 day trip to the territory of Friuli, another amazing possibility to really learn what makes Friuli tick.
Sounds like it's going to be one busy 9 days but can't wait to get there!
Follow the EWBC action by following this blog and the #EWBC hashtag. I also recommend reading all the attending winebloggers sites. The full list of participants and their websites/blogs can be found by clicking the link below.
Can't wait to meet you all in Brescia - I'm packing just few articles of clothes (rest is reserved for wines), energy to last the 9 days and of course when you go to Italy, some patience! ;-)
See you there!
